Special praise on this occasion goes to Sian Brace for her faultless oboe solo in Caccini’s Ave Maria. But it was clear that the audience also loved their participation by helping the band whistle the Colonel Bogey theme part of the film music from ‘The Bridge On the River Kwai’. Also notable was the specially requested and extremely well known Evening Hymn and Sunset by Capt A C Green RM which allowed principal trumpet Jon Yates to demonstrate his extensive playing experience in what can only be described as exactly how Sunset ought to be played, a very special thrill for the audience but especially for the many former members of the Corps and Royal Navy who were present that evening.

In short, thank you very much indeed you wonderful Mayfield people for providing us with such an enjoyable concert in such a lovely church.
