Well now here’s a poser for you. What does Barry Manilow, Gary Barlow, Lt Col Sir F Vivian-Dunn, Sousa, Michel Legrand, Vivaldi, Simon & Garfunkel, Freddie Mercury, John Stanley, Lennon & Mc Cartney…all have in common?
Very simply they all contributed (along with others) to a magnificent combined concert at Portsmouth Guildhall on Sunday afternoon (6th Oct) with the Milton Glee Club Choir together with the famous RM Corps of Drums from the Royal Marines Band Portsmouth.
As a result, the very large audience had a rare treat and clearly were not disappointed judging by the enthusiastic applause afforded to us all – particularly at the finale where stamping of feet, whistles and cheers could clearly be heard on stage.
Congrats are due to Brian North (Director of Music for the MGC Choir) whose concert it was and his excellent choices of music – some with very up to date spins and arrangements that worked extremely well for both band and choir alike.
Our particular congrats must also go to the choir’s most excellent pianist/ accompanist Ian Walker whose understated playing ensured that the whole thing remained together. Well done Ian!
