RMA Band – Thursday 14th December 2017

What better way to mark the festive season for band and audience alike than a Christmas Concert by the Royal Marines’ Association Concert Band at the Royal Marines Museum, Southsea. Complete with customary mince pies and mulled wine, this truly convivial occasion on Thursday 14 th December combined a mix of cultural enhancement and festive frivolity.

Roberts’ arrangement of Pastime with Good Company, originally attributed to King Henry VIII and Woodfield’s Russian Cavalry march were contrasted with the truly exhilarating Cry of the Celts.

Yet though Ltd Col Chris Davis admitted a personal lack of enthusiasm for Christmas music, he nonetheless led the band in a spirited performance of Langford’s arrangement A Christmas Fantasy and indulged audience and band alike in a swinging version of Jingle Bells!!
