Major Cameron John March

MBE
Major Cameron John March MBE joined the Royal Marines in 1963 at the age of sixteen and quickly distinguished himself as an exceptional young Marine, earning the King's Badge in 1964. During a distinguished career spanning 33 years, he served on operations in the Radfan and South Arabian campaigns, Singapore, Northern Ireland, the Falklands Conflict and Northern Iraq.

Promoted rapidly through the ranks, he served as Company Sergeant Major of Lima Company, 42 Commando, during Operation CORPORATE in 1982. His leadership and service during the Falklands campaign led to his selection for commission in 1983, after which he continued his career as an officer, retiring from the Royal Marines as a Major in 1996.

Following military service, he embarked upon work that would become his most enduring legacy: the development of Operational Stress Management and Trauma Risk Management (TRiM). Instrumental in securing its adoption within the Royal Marines and wider Armed Forces, his pioneering work has since become internationally recognised best practice and is now widely used across military, emergency service and other trauma-exposed organisations around the world. In recognition of this contribution, he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2001.

Throughout his career, Major March has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the welfare of serving personnel and veterans. Following retirement from regular service, he continued to work tirelessly in support of the Royal Marines community, helping to advance veteran wellbeing and support initiatives through the Royal Marines Association.

Today, as Chairman of the Royal Marines Association Concert Band, he continues his lifelong commitment to service, comradeship and the wellbeing of others. His career reflects not only distinguished military service but also a lasting contribution to the care and support of those exposed to adversity and trauma.
